I bought three nice size hydrangeas endless summer variety at Sam’s and the leaves were turning black and damaged, but I thought it was from the storms we had been having with lots of wind and hail. The plants were set outside in the parking lot. This one’s still not looking so good. I’m wondering now

if it has a disease.

It could be a fungus, but more likely to me is that it is showing stress from sudden temperature changes. Has it been in near frost conditions?

Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s been exposed to multiple temperature changes… This time of year it’s so typical for our area in Southwest Missouri and the fact that it’s sitting out in the parking lot at Sam’s Club without any protection probably tells it all. I’ll give it a while longer and see how they do… I’m trimming off the really bad leaves. All three of the plants have lots of buds so I have hope.
