What is this growing in my garden?

Hello Everyone!

I live in the PNW and my wife and I purchased a house last October. The previous owners seemed to be avid gardeners and left us 5 raised beds with, what we thought, were empty beds. We have been shocked a few times when stuff started sprouting through and now we know there is garlic, mint and citronella growing from the previous owners planting. My wife and literally have NO idea what to do and I am learning everything through the web. However there is this strange looking guy popping pup (attached pics) and we have no clue what it is. Can anyone identify it? I don't think its radish but it kind of looks like it. Please Help!

I did some research on that and it's a good guess but I don't think Red Ginger would thrive here in the cold.
