We are zone 6a looking for small type tree to plant as memorial tree.

We are looking to plant a small tree fairly close to our house. Maybe 10-15 ft away next to a couple raised garden beds. Any recommendaions?

Redbuds are pretty small trees that would work well.

As @oneeye posted the Eastern Redbud would work well. Also, if your soil isn't too acidic crepe myrtles do fine. Magnolias also do great there and they come in all sorts of sizes. Although a bush type plant gardenias have a long lifespan and will get as tall as a small tree. Just check with your local nursery or county extension agent for what grows well there.
