Can anyone tell what kind of blackberry bush I have just by looking at it or maybe know of a guide to look at to figure out what they are?

It is a thornless variety. I got some plants earlier in the year and they were unknown what type they were. Only one lived. I do have other blackberry bushes that I planted about the same time and I can tell it is not an Arapaho type. I have Navajo plants and I can't really tell any difference, if any yet. Maybe the differences will show more next year.

Something weird I just noticed was the leaves don't always have 5 leaves.

Now you have me trying to remember if my blackberries go from green to black or from green to red to black! Mine are Kiowas though so I can probably look it up!

Look at the Chester Thornless and see what you think. The leaf shapes run from rounded to pointed but the Chester seems likely.

There are a heck of a lot of sub-species, plus hybrids, plus crosses with other species, I think it comes to well over 1,000 varieties. I remember my brother telling me a friend of his got his PhD classifying them in one area, counting numbers of stamens, Ouch!

Seems to be a lot of variables to make note of. I didn't see the color change type or the number of stamens on that site. Where are those at?
