Bedstraw Hawk-moth (Hyles gallii) is a Sphinx Moth (Sphingidae), with a circumboreal distribution, being native to Europe, northern Asia, Japan, Canada, and the northern United States. Its larval foodplants include many members of the Evening-primrose Family (Onagraceae), such as Chamerion, Circaea, Clarkia, and Epilobium. In addition, there are reports of larvae consuming Birch (Betula, Betulaceae), Plantain (Plantago, Plantaginaceae), Purslane (Portulaca, Portulacaceae), Rose (Rosa, Rosaceae), Bedstraw (Galium, Rubiaceae), Willow (Salix, Salicaceae), and Grape (Vitis, Vitaceae)
