@Ian, thanks for the link, I didn't know it, either. :)

I think @zigs wants us all to get the sack.:cautious:

Better watch your back, Ian. Remember: "Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked." I think zigs wants your job!! ;) :ROFLMAO:

Congrats to all! This was fun to follow...my sunflowers peaked early this year and the birds had the blooms largely decimated by early August.

For all you sunflower lovers!

According to Guinness World Records......

The tallest sunflower measures 9.17 m (30 ft 1 in) and was grown by Hans-Peter Schiffer (Germany) in Karst, Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany, as verified on 28 August 2014. Hans-Peter is a veteran of tall sunflowers, having held this record three times before.

I don't know if I'd like to grow something that needed more scaffolding than my house....

:ROFLMAO: At least the birds would be safe from my cats! (y)

:sneaky: Wonder if I could get seeds for next year's competition?

I realize it's the first of July, but I think I will plant more, just to see what happens next!

July 2, post #89

Bit of a shame we didn't have a shortest sunflower competition for that last photo ;).

"Shortest with a bloom" could be a category next year!! :D

14 inches, poor thing. One of the cats knocked the pot off the pedestal and half the dirt fell out. No use putting in more, it's getting too cold at night, their season in the sun is done.

Hopefully, I'll have better luck next year.
