I ordered 2 rhubarb plants from a nursery and I did receive them.
Problem is I can't plant them yet. they should have been in the ground by now I think.
So I have these roots and I don't want them to dies out.
They seem to be still growing but well,
Should I go on and put them in a pot or just wait till weather warms and stops freezing and snowing?
First timer for Rhubarb roots.
Anyone know what to do with them?

Thanks!

Is it pot grown rhubarb? If so it can be planted at any time I think... If not, and if you feel it is too late to plant them outside, then maybe plant them in a big pot for now?

Hello Becky!

I have no idea if it was pot grown.
I guess I will take your suggestion and put it in a pot.
At least it might be saved.
Thank you

I did have rhubarb in a pot one year, and it grew just fine there, at least until our weather got up over 100 for a week or two in a row, and even though I moved the pots up on the porch and in the shade, it was just too hot for the roots, and they wilted and died. But if it is just a temporary thing until you are able to plant them somewhere properly, I believe that the rhubarb will do just fine in a pot.

I did plant it in pots. Looks better that it was.
When it stays warmer out I'll transplant it.
We had another hard freeze earlier this week!
I have one rhubarb in the garden now and it's getting bigger. I'm surprised it didn't get damage with the hard freeze.

One year, I had my rhubarb in a plant and it did not grow, I am new to gardening so I am trying to figure out how to keep my
fruits and vegetables safe when I am planting because they wilt very quickly.

Keep them cool and wet if they are in the hot sum and heat. Rhubarb takes a year or two to get established.
After that they should grow without much trouble.
Mine are potted right now but when we get the garden till and ready they will be transplanted.
I have one out there now. I planted it last year now this year it's really taken hold and is growing well.
I think I should have a good season off of it.
It's a few of my other plants that I am worried about!
If I don't get them in the ground soon I may have to start over!
Keep us posted how your coming along with your garden :)
