Hello!! I recieved this plant from an online retailer about 3 weeks ago. When it arrived it had two yellowing leaves on it which I removed. Over the past few days I have noticed that one leaf has started to droop and turn slightly yellow. I have watered it twice since aquiring it, and I have allowed the water to drain fully, not allowing it to ever sit in any residual water. As you can see the plant has a new leaf coming out, and a smaller new leaf. I hope you can help me!! Thank you!!!!

Welcome to the forum :)

I think you are most likely over watering it, and it would probably be happier in a bigger pot too. It only needs watering when the top couple of inches of the soil feels dry, so if you're not sure then stick your fingers into the soil to check. They like indirect light, so make sure it doesn't get any direct sunlight from that window.

Thank you for the advice. I have now repotted it using houseplant compost and perlite. Do you have any tips for watering? I have been watering until the water drips out the bottom. I have also been using rainwater. Thank you :)

Probably wait for the soil to feel dry to the fingers before you water again. overwatering in winter is one of the most likely causes of killing the poor thing. It can't be very bad if there is a new leaf on the point of unfurling.

I found a coco coir stake while out shopping yesterday on sale for £2.50, which is very cheap :) sadly I think I may lose the leaf, its getting more and more yellow and floppy :( how do leaves grow on the Monstera? In the 3rd picture there is a little bump, does a leaf grow from there? Thanks :)

I think he's very good. Don't let the compost dry out and he's very good!

Okay, so I could do with some further advice. The leaf seems to be folded in on itself. No idea what's going on. Any ideas? :(

As they Grow it will unravel. Just leave the New leaves to sort them selves out. Try and not Touch and unravel yourself Just let it do its thing. Theses plants Can live for years. It will lose leaves from time to time but as long as it is looking green on the newest leaves all is ok;)

7AAAC592-2480-4ABF-AB7E-4AFA5AAF0CFE.jpeg Hi! I’m a new monstera owner, and I’m trying to propagate some cuttings. I’m running into the problem of these small white bugs that are on the leaf and I also see these brown bumps. Can anyone identify these? I’m spraying the leaves down with neem oil. Please help!

I think they may be Thripes. They are hard to get rid of, but I think I did get rid of mine. I sprayed every second day with soap, water, rubbing alcohol, and Neem oil. You have to keep head of their life cycle. They lay eggs in the plant tissue, so spraying and manually removing anything that you see is essential. I ended up repotting mine in fresh soil, and I sprayed everything including the roots before placing it in new soil. I haven’t seen a bug in three weeks, but I’m checking it several times daily.

You are keeping your soil too wet friend. Get the plant out of the containers drain tray and never let the plant sit in discharge water after you water it. If you cut off all the oxygen from the roots with excess water you will kill the plant.

Tip the plant out of the container gently and see if the roots are mushy or compacted in the pot. If they are mushy that's an over-watering problem. If they are compacted with a lot of roots it is time to up-pott in a slightly larger container. Don't go over 2 inches in volume in the transplant or you will raise the plant's water holding capacity too much and over water.
