Pickle brine recipe

Depends what kind of pickles I am making. For regular whole pickles I use about a 2:1 vinegar to water and also add some salt. For sliced pickles I would add sugar instead of salt to the brine and a bit less vinegar. But also depends on what kind of vinegar and salt I am using, sometimes I'll add a bit of balsamic or apple cider vinegar to the white vinegar for extra flavor. I usually use pink Himalayan salt but sometimes black salt, even though it smells like sulfur it tastes good, just don't put as much in.
