If anyone has Lost their pet, or wants to remember them please feel free to do so.
Today it's been 2 years since Bracken had died, he had leukemia and was having treatment but it mutated and he lost the battle.

Thank you Gail
When he was about 5 he had Bells Pailsy on the right side of his face, he looked as if he had a stroke, the right side was drooping and he was drooling a lot. He had a brain scan and a lumbar puncture on the back of his neck but they were normal. The muscles did tighten up again but his right eye was closed a bit more. At that time Willow was having treatment trying to flush his kidneys out with a saline drip for 3 days, going backwards and forwards to the vet in the daytime and a place where he could be monitored at night but there was no change, so we had to have him put to sleep.:(

A loss of a pet is as a loss of a child. It is heart breaking and can leave us with lengthy grief . My boys, GSD have been gone 7 and 9 years, still can tear up now and then. Now with cats, lost 2 , two January 's ago, still a strange missing of them happens every now and then. Our connections to such sweet souls are ever lasting.

Thank you Esther, that was very moving. It's been 8 years since Willow went but it was shocking to us when Moss went 12 days after.

My Teddy bud, 15 years old, constant companion in my gardens with me, was attacked by a day time sick raccoon. his injuries were to severe beyond medical intervention, we did everything we could. He went to heaven on July 5. I will miss him at our sitting stone in the garden, our morning coffee together, our garden strolls he would do with me everyday. Born on this property , he has a nice spot with his brothers that have gone before him. He knows he was loved greatly.

So sorry to hear that Esther, he was loved very much and he knew that. You have all the memories of him. Our loved ones will always be in our hearts and they'll be comfort when we feel sad.

WHEN I AM OLD
When I am old...
I will wear soft gray sweatshirts...
and a bandana over my silver hair...
and I will spend my social security checks on my dogs.
I will sit in my house on my well-worn chair
and listen to my dogs breathing.
I will sneak out in the middle of a warm summer night
and take my dogs for a run, if my old bones will allow...
When people come to call, I will smile and nod
as I show them my dogs...
and talk of them and about them...
...the ones so beloved of the past
and the ones so beloved of today...
I will still work hard cleaning after them,
mopping and feeding them and whispering their names
in a soft loving way.
I will wear the gleaming sweat on my throat,
like a jewel, and I will be an embarrassment to all...
especially my family...
who have not yet found the peace in being free
to have dogs as your best friends...
These friends who always wait, at any hour, for your footfall...
and eagerly jump to their feet out of a sound sleep,
to greet you as if you are a God,
with warm eyes full of adoring love and hope
that you will always stay,
I'll hug their big strong necks...
I'll kiss their dear sweet heads...
and whisper in their very special company....
I look in the mirror... and see I am getting old....
this is the kind of person I am...
and have always been.
Loving dogs is easy, they are part of me.
Please accept me for who I am.
My dogs appreciate my presence in their lives...
they love my presence in their lives...
When I am old this will be important to me...
you will understand when you are old,
if you have dogs to love too.
