My peach is 6 years old, but it has started to warp. Can I cut a branch at the base but without damaging the tree.

Hello, and welcome to the Forums.

What exactly are you claiming is wrong with your tree? It would be good to understand which branch you want to cut and why. Just because a branch is oddly twisted doesn't necessarily require that it be pruned.

As for damaging the tree, if you do cut a large branch, this will lead to a large wound. Usually trees do recover from such surgery, but there is always the risk that such a wound will allow a fungus or other pathogen to deeply and quickly enter the tree.

Thanks. Now it will not be pruning, it will be April or May. The tree has started to tilt slightly and I don't know what pruning to do. I have been trying to learn proper pruning for two years, I am still a novice.

Това е другото ми разнообразие от дърво Glohaven, може би трябва да отрежа един от клоните, който отива в лозето ми, за да има правилната форма.

This is what Google translate gave me. Is it close?
"This is my other variety of Glohaven tree, maybe I should cut one of the branches that goes into my vineyard to get the right shape".

By the way, I recommend pruning major limbs at the end of Winter or beginning of Spring, before any buds burst open.

Pruning is always spring for me, winter is very cold even though I am close to Greece. Here are a few healed wounds treated Calcium oxide lime only.

Here in the US most arborists have concluded that placing coverings over tree wounds, whether paint or other substances, is actually detrimental to the healing process except for certain diseases such as oak wilt in Live Oaks and Red Oak trees, in which a wound dressing is mandatory. Also, severe pruning such as removing major limbs should be done BEFORE bud swell, well before bud opening and well before the sap starts to rise.

Yes. In general, a light option is to cover the wounds after cutting or incision, with beeswax, a very common method in Europe. Protects from direct sunlight and other fungi and diseases. And the bark also turns brown and begins to rot.
