I'm new to Dahlias, but how can I not become addicted to a plant, that comes in so many beautiful forms, colors and sizes?
I started collecting them just last year, but it's becoming a passion second only to my passion for Canna Lily
I saved the bulbs (or rhizomes not sure) from last year, and to my surprise they all made it!
The first to bloom is a mini red, in the greenhouse

Thanks! :)
I propagate from rhizome division because in Spring and end up with way too many of each kind so I doubt I will need cuttings. I get the compost from a Nursery

I got a bunch new Dahlias this year, I can't wait to post them in bloom!

Same here! I am sure they are the right ones as labelled. I have ordered quite a few different kinds of irises and lo and behold, my garden is now full of Indian Chief ... They literally TOOK OVER! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Don't get me wrong, I love them, but not in form of a jungle!:LOL:

Is it French? You'll have to translate. From learning Spanish, I recognize "mal - bad" and "pense - thought," so I think you are accusing me of dirty thoughts. :p

Compost - Dirt - Dirty...

Google translate will do it for you. y pense. I think it's French. But my French is limited. You've guessed it. Clever girl.

Irises are great but yeah, that!
I hope you'll post your Dahlias too, when they bloom. :)

They're beauties Gemma! I just noticed a half hour ago that I've got my first dahlia bloom.
Thank you! I'd like to see yours if you have pics :)

I lost count on how many I have, perhaps this thread will help me count them all

I've got only the one. Quite a few buds

A pompon! Soooo glad that you've picked up the thread again. I will contribute to it. Probably more in one or 2 weeks times. I love that two-tone dahlia that you have. The front and back of the petal show different colours. How do they manage to do that? Nature is such an enigma! Don't you think and we are blessed to be able to see these beauties in millions of pixels.

Lovely color you have!

The heat makes the leaves wilt, but they pick back up in the evening.
I have several new ones this year that are about to bloom, I can't wait to see what they look like.
