Minnesota apple tree trimming question

My knowledge is still very limited on pruning fruit trees but I am starting to learn as I just planted 5 that I'll have to maintain.
Generally you don't want to prune a tree at all between mid-summer and when it drops leafs. Pruning will stimulate a flush of new grown which won't have time to properly harden and mature before freezing which leads to problems.
