Microscopic rice like pellets on plant leaves

Hi.

I've noticed tiny yellow rice shaped things on the leaves of my mums plants.

New leaves drop off the plant that has it the worst, and the stem at the top became really dark and was cut off.

Does anyone know what this is or how to treat it if possible?

Also a cacti in the same room has fluffy stringy bits coming out. Not sure if this is normal or related.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Reese- By now you probably already know that the first one is a Dwarf Schefflera with scale that can be controlled with a systemic insecticide. The cactus is a type called Old-man Cactus because of the "whiskers" that grow around the spines. This is an adaptation for protection from cold and being eaten by deer, guanacos, and vicunas~ not something yours will ever have to worry about!
Happy plant parenting!

Thank you so much!

Just ordered a Systemic Pesticide spray.

Hopefully that will help.

Leaves are dropping off it everyday!
