This could be the scratch marks or feeding parks of an insect, but it could also be incidental mechanical damage that may or may not occur again. It possibly could be the work of leaf-miner caterpillars (Microlepidoptera) but usually such damage is more continuous and intricately patterned.
If you could investigate the lines very closely with a hand lens it might be informative. Removing and dissecting the leaf might also answer some questions, but the damage would be much greater than the initial scratches.
