Photographed this plant 2 days ago along a gravel road that runs beside a pond. We're thinking it might be one of the loosestrifes, but we're definitely not certain!! The location is Litchfield County in northwest Connecticut.
This is Ciliate Loosestrife (Lysimachia ciliata), in the Primrose Family (Primulaceae), native to much of North America. The ciliate hairs on the leaf petioles are just barely visible in the shot.
Thanks for your response. We thought it was possibly a loosestrife; but we weren't sure. It's nice to finally settle this mystery after 7 years. Closure, you know. I posted this inquiry in August of 2014.
