Hello,

I have planted a new Bougainvillea in the garden (about 50 cm tall) and have noticed that the a lot of leaves seem eaten.
I was wondering if it is some kind of pest, too much water (I water it daily), or something else.
Hope these pictures can help.

Thanks.

Do you also see any "black dots" on leaves or stems?

Often, leaf loopers are the problem. They come out at night, or early morning to feed on bougainvillea leaves.

BT / Dipel (natural insecticides) can often be used to minimize, and hopefully, eradicate the issue.

The edge of the leaves are nibbled by something, possibly a small caterpillar. If you don't see the insect during the day, you might be able to find and identify it if you go out after dark with a flashlight.

Also I recommend that you water deeply, but less frequently than every day.
