I'm wondering if I should plant a pussy willow next to my ceanothus? The willows are about 5 ft tall although my ceanothus is about 15 years old and well grown. Is there a possibility that the 2 willows, in time could damage the roots of my crown and glory African lilac?

Have not seen one of those in years. Reminds me of, a house we lived in when I was about 10 years old, there was one on the side of that house. To me never thought a Pussy Willow would be invasive, in the right spot it would work well, but that's it "in the right spot".

Thank you so much for your reply! K, that's fair enough.

Welcome @Cherrifaye .

I haven't grown a pussy willow myself and so I checked with my AI source and found the following:

"Pussy willow root systems are considered invasive and can penetrate septic tanks, water lines, or building foundations."

I think in light of that caution might be advised.

Just how close to the Ceanothus do you want to plant it? If it’s 10’ or more you should be okay.
Is it actually a California Lilac and not African?
