Indoor Tulips - 1. Fill a glass container about 1/3 of the way with glass marbles/decorative rocks. 2. Set the tulip bulb on top of the marbles or stones; pointed end UP. Add a few more marbles/rocks so that the tulip bulb is surrounded but not covered (think support). 3. Pour fresh water into the container. The water shouldn't touch the bulb, but it should be very close, so that the roots will grow in. Going in my window

So what do you guys think? I was checking this just yesterday and I thought it was such a brilliant idea and worth a try :) I will definitely try it when I move, since I'll be living so close to the ''Action'' and it will be super easy to find the right glass containers over there for a good price! So excited!

Wow, how I love to have those tulips in the glass. There are tulips sold in the mall's flower shop but unfortunately they have no tulip bulbs. Maybe there are special stores that well tulip bulbs but I do not have the connections. Those stores may be related to orchid enthusiasts since orchid competitions sometimes include other flowers. I hope to get even just 1 bulb.

I'm glad you liked it, @IcyBC I had already heard this was possible, but I didn't think I'd be trying it (tulip bulbs are kinda hard to find here) but in the Netherlands they can even found in gift boxes at stores like the Action for almost nothing! It's amazing!

I tried to do it a few months ago, but, unfortunately, none of my tulips bloomed:cry::( I wrote about them here: https://www.gardening-forums.com/threads/growing-tulips-indoors.4628/
I honestly don't know what I did wrong:(

I remember that post now! I just checked it out and I can't help to notice that your tulips are very far from the window? Did you keep them like that all the time? I have noticed it's better to keep them near the windows sill, I visited a house and they were keeping some bulbs like this. Maybe they needed some sunshine?

We have the same problem in the country where I live, so right now I can't try this, but soon I will be moving to the Netherlands, and over there it's super easy to find bulbs... and the best part is that you can buy them for very cheap! I also love the look of tulips in a vase, but if this doesn't turn out the way I want it... I'll not be so sad (y)

The tulips look spectacular Trellum. I'd love to try it too. :)

Do it! I think this sounds like a really nice project, specially the bead selection, I heard you can also use marbles for this as well. But seriously, if you can try this, please do, I'd love to get some feedback from you, because I am sure over there is very easy to get this to work =D

I think you're right! I kept them there all the time and my previous apartment was rather dark.
Maybe I'll give this another try:) Now I live in a lovely place with big windows where all plants grow like crazy, so there is a chance that tulips will grow too:D

You are lucky to have that prospect of moving to the native country of the tulips. I'm sure there is an abundance of tulip bulbs and probably of different varieties too. How I wish I could visit Netherlands so I can have a selfie with the tulip plantation. And I'm sure my husband would like to have a selfie by the windmill because he is amused with windmills.

@Corzhens If you here come on a holiday I recommend you to visit the north, but only during the summer and then you will see full fields of only tulips! It's so beautiful during the summer, I really recommend you to take a look, and yes, if you want to see other variety of tulips i recommend you to take a look at the different tulip expositions there.:)

If you have plenty of sun light, then I don't see why not ;) I've seen this always work when the person leaves them near the windows sill, where they can get plenty of sun. I've also seen other bulbs thrive in darker conditions though, I think lilies, but those are a different story ;)

I have plenty of sunlight, but I don't have enough space on my window sills;) I think I'll buy new tulip bulbs when my miniature roses go dormant.
I'd love to grow white and purple tulips. How about you?:)
