Being the idiot I am, I realized my big max pumpkin plant wasn't doing too well, so I wanted to trim off the dead leaves that were hanging on the plant so it can save its energy. I accidentally snapped the plant stem!

There's no chance of repairing it. I'm thinking of putting it in water so it can re-root, and then replant it. Will that work for pumpkins? I have pictures.

It looks like the stem is kind of split. Should I even it out, or leave it be? It's siting in water at the moment.

Take the bottom 3 leaves off.
Split the stem up to where the first leaf is. (It'll help it take up moisture.)
Plant it that deep in a 3"-4" pot of compost.
Soak the compost.
Put it somewhere mildly warm, and, if you can, very humid.
It's a vine; it can root.

Thank you. I did exactly what you said...except for the splitting the stem part. I was afraid to damage it more. It's in the ground.
