Yes! About a year ago, my mother became very angry because her gumamelas were stolen by someone. They were cut. From then on, we erected fences around the garden to discourage thieves. We also have a guard dog staying near the garden.

My son and I built a 'fairy house' out of lawn debris when he was younger. It was so cute! It didn't get stolen, but someone trashed it. It broke our hearts. We never found out who did it, but I still hope karma bites them in the butt.
Just planted something for the first time ever, a rose bush, as quite a surprise for my wife for our twentieth anniversary. Next to the mailbox, up the driveway, five feet from our front door. Only flowers we have. A week on, was pleased to see 7 or 8 flowers, "must have done something right!" Two days later, all gone. Moved it to the backyard.
