I discovered a hardy looking basil plant in an Italian garden recently with strong leathery leaves. Does anyone know of such a variety that can be found in uk and grown here?
Lettuce basil maybe? We used to use it at an Italian fusion restaurant that I worked at. It has some kinda ripply, hardier leaves but is a more mild basil in taste (I find). I don't know enough about it to be able to tell you if it can grow in the UK though!
I've looked for hardy basil recently and did a good bit of Google research and came up with nothing. I looked up that lettuce basil and it appears it is not frost hardy. I'd like to hear if you ever come up with anything.
