Hardy fig brown spot on the stem

Hello,

I am new at this, bought a small hardy fig plant and replanted it into a pot. At night I keep it inside, since it can get cold then I put it outside when sun comes out. It's been 6 days since I replanted it and now I've noticed a brown spot developing on the stem. And one of the small leaves fell down. Any idea what could cause this? I watered it when I planted it and once more 4 days later.

You or the nursery where you bought it, planted your fig too deep in the container. Remove the top 1/2 inch of soil and allow the the top inch to dry before watering again. When its time to water allow the a small amount of water to discharge out the bottom to ensure that all the soil is hydrated well. If its dry after removing the 1/2 inch of soil then water it well now.

Thank you for the advice!!! I have removed the top soil. Will update how it goes in a week or so!
