The 'Tendersweet' carrot tops are comparably less dark (they have not photosynthesised as much) and shorter in their length. This does not mean they are not ready for harvesting - it depends on the variety as the tops grow to different lengths in relation to the root size with different types of carrots.

The seeds sprout after about a week of watering, with seedlings emerging from the top of the compost.

These two carrot varieties are slightly different. The 'Rainbow' (in other words, mixture of heirloom coloured seeds) carrots grow about 6 inches long - I have harvested them at smaller lengths in shallower containers before and they still grew acceptably.

The second variety, which is known to be long and thin, grows about 8 inches long. The roots of this type are happy at this depth of the container. So, I do not think having more depth would interfere with the growth of these particular carrots. The most important part of this is having sufficient depth so they can grow to their intended size.

This planter was also used to grow a certain variety of carrot, and the roots grew to their intended size.

After about 3 months of continuous watering, many of the Tendersweet carrots are at their harvesting size. They are known to be a sweet variety, which makes them a preferred choice for juicing.

The harvested carrots are placed in the container. Their tops are removed and the roots are rinsed.

The rinsed carrots are inserted into the masticating juicer. This type of juicer 'chews' the vegetables slowly, which means it produces less heat so the nutrients are not affected as much as other juicers.

Do you do anything with the leftover pulp like make slaw, or is there no flavor left in it?

The pulp can be used to add fiber when eaten with greens (it can also be eaten on its own). It is still very nutritious and tastes sweet.

The 'Rainbow Mix' carrots take slightly longer to grow to a harvestable size. They are also wider in size, so often need to be chopped finely in order to be juiced. Of these, the yellow carrot has a unique colour when its juice is extracted.
