I'm looking to replace the bushes at the front of my house. Whatever was planted there when the house was built are dying due to the magnolias in front of them growing and blocking out all the sun. This area is now full shade, any suggestions? Flowering is a plus, but really anything that looks decent and will survive seeing absolutely no direct sunlight, ever, will do.

Maybe the Magnolias could be pruned back a little to allow some light to get in. There are a few shrubs and other plants that will like shade, but if deprived of light altogether will be unhappy. Ferns will cope , but with a little more light even fuchsias and hydrangeas will cope. Clematis like it's roots in shade ...but the flowers look for light.
