Sad that she died relatively young
What a voice!

I've these two 45s in one of my jukeboxes.

Demonstrates that she could sing anything

More Linda Ronstadt, could sing live with no auto-tune or any other digital musical enhansements , justt a microphone.

Here she is with Smokey Robinson, long past his prime.

She sang it better on her own, the jazz alto saxophonist (on the recording) is David Sanborn.

More sixties girls.

Evie Sands she's still performing

Darlene Love, the often uncredited lead singer in the recordings of Phil Spector girl groups

More Clydie King

Merrilee Rush

I've been listening to Barbara Lewis, another girl singer from the sixties.

Here's an example of another young singer from that era who could sing anything.

I like her interpretation of a classic.

She made a huge number of recordings, few charted.

But there's some gems. this one has had only 77 hits on YouTube.

another

An Everly's cover.

Trawling throught he songs of Harold Greenfield, 1936-1986.
He wrote or co-wrote (many with Neil Sedaka) an unbelievable number of songs.

This one always amuses me.

Recorded by "The Shirelles" it made No 3 in the USA in 1962.

It was also recorded by "The Cookies" who never had much success as an individual group, but worked extensively as back-up singers.

I much prefer their version that I find less brash and more musical as their voices were better.

I tried to order "Cruising to the Park." from Colemine Records. It's on a regular 45rpm record,
but it's out of stock at the moment.

This one.

They're gonna let me know when it's back in stock.

$7.99 plus the postage, which seems reasonable.

It's destined for my MoTown and R&B jukebox
