Totally! There are totally battery-powered grow lights out there. They come in all shapes and sizes, perfect for hanging plants or little spaces.

I googled 'Battery operated grow lights for plants' and saw them both on e-bay and Etsy with AA batteries, don't know how good they are, the e-bay one suggested rechargeable batteries. I also googled 'best battery powered grow lights', that turned up a number of suggestions, I think some would run on a 12volt car battery.

I wouldn't waste my money on any grow light that runs on batteries. You need at least 100 watts minimum to support a good light spectrum.

I agree. My smallest grow light is a Mars Hydro 600 and it uses 100w. If I was to rig it up to use battery power and used the battery in my laptop the charge would last less then an hour before needing to be recharged. This made me curious so I searched a couple of the grow lights to compare. The average expected charge is only 4-6 hours and only 30 watts, not full spectrum. I wasn't able to find any that would hold a charge for much longer than that. Only option is a solar power grow light that lasts about 12 hours and that would be using a 12v.
