I have been gone for three months and left my plants sealed in clear plastic bags as one solution given, house temperature at 50 degrees, watered a day prior to sealing no extra water left. I also got advised not to do it and was given other possible solutions (that I appreciate), I knew I was taking a big risk but the bags was the most feasible way at the moment in my particular circumstances.
I have just came back and some plants are doing good, others were overcome by moisture and died. Some of the ones that survived and because were in contact to some dead, that grew mildew (not powdery mildew, but regular) have some on branches. The leaves look green and healthy, no spots or limp. I already removed all the dead leaves that had fallen on the soil from the other plants.
Is there a way to clean it, so it won't keep spreading? I live in WI having an ice storm right now, so to leave them out on the sun is not possible.
I feel bad that this happened, ready for the "I told you so" but I want to try to save the rest. TIA
