I have several gerainiums that have been potted for 8yrs. They perform excellently. But years of erosion has sunken the soil level, continually exposing roots that now look like stems. I don't want to repot them. Can I fill the pots up and cover these stems?

I would put some potting mix back in there and keep it topped off instead of letting it get way down there. Where is the soil going, out the bottom or wind blowing it away?

Unless you take the trouble to re-pot these poor plants in new compost, and trim them back to encourage new growth, they will die. If you had been left without food and cover for 8 years, so would you. This is not a huge job - nor is it over expensive!

The plant looks fairly healthy. May want to consider adding some good potting mix, and prune a good portion of the top growth back.
