Hello,

I was given a Calathea plant several years ago which is getting to a size that is going to be too big for my living situation.

I was wondering if root pruning would help stunt the plants growth a little without causing damage?

Calathea plants can be root pruned. Very gently remove the plant from the container, untangle the roots, and cut off the stuff that looks unhealthy or rootbound. Be gentle and remove about 1/3 or less of the roots. Then, return the plant to the same container with new potting mix. Place the plant in the exact location it was thriving in before the root prune. Good luck and keep us posted.
