I found one of my large multi-flowered sunflowers, which is about six feet tall (1.83 meters) with broken main stalk about 1/2-way up the stalk; it has an approximate diameter of ~2 inches (5cm).

The stalk seems healthy, so not sure how it would have broken, there have been some heavy winds, but none of my other sunflowers are broken. It didn't break entirely off, it's almost as if someone bent it over and broke it. The sunflowers are just blooming, so there are no seeds.

Any ideas?

Maybe splint it with a long stick. If the vessels are not too badly damaged it will flow again like a tomato out growing its cage and pinching?
