Hello,

My mother in law just bought me a little cactus that is adorable now most cactus are easy. Little water and sun but i'd like to know who he is before I name him.

Pictures are attached

The white fluff is also worrying me... I don't know if this is normal.

Eric and his friend Bill, look fine to me, many cacti have white "fluff" round the base of the spines, particularly on the younger ones. Keep an eye open for mealy bug https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=201 as this can be a pest of cacti, looks like white fluff but away from the base of spines.

I appreciate the feedback abut the white fluff. Do you know what type of cactus this is ? (btw the two pics are of the same cactus)

Are Eric and Bill suggestion of names ?

Hiya Tetters ; you OK ?
Perhaps the BCSS should abandon all latin names and just call all cacti either Eric or Bill , and for the female gender Sheila or Dot ?
Was going to add a humorous smiley but can only seem to get the 'thumbs-up' one .

Yep thanks, very ok..... Dot would actually be great for @Alvean 's cactus - like Dot Cotton(wool) on Eastenders :joyful:
