There have been a lot of updates about the nest this year that I'm not sure if you guys have been following. The first is sad news. Jackie, the female eagle has died. This was not completely unexpected after she had been found in bad shape last month, but her death was announced today.

There's also very good news. The habitat surrounding the nest was set to be destroyed and developed into luxury housing. Thankfully, $10 million dollars were raised to save it! More than 60 acres of forest will now be preserved! Rarely do habitats get saved so this is certainly incredible news.

Here's the news article if anyone wants to read it.

Yes, all over my Facebook news feed. Jackie passed on. Sad. Poor Shadow, we don't know what he is thinking.

Would be nice if that fish from that lake be tested.

We lost an eagle here from lead poisoning earlier in the year.
Not sure what happened to Jackie but I was seeing in my news feed they were treating her.

From what I've read she was attacked by two other eagles, but she also had underlying health issues that made it worse.
