Hi everyone,

I’m trying my hand at growing some vegetables this year - I have a few beetroot on the go (in the same bed) most of which are doing well, however this one not so much - any advice as to why this has happened would be so appreciated!

Thank you.

It looks like a water management issue. Take a hand cultivator and loosen the soil around the beet. Feel the soil and see if its too wet or dry.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply!
It doesn’t seem either end of the scale, warmly soft if that makes sense?
I wonder why the beetroot next to it is absolutely fine - we have been subjected to strong winds a week or so ago, perhaps the after shock of that?
Thanks again,
Aidan.

Wondering as well; my lettuce are very soft and the leaves keep breaking off - they also seem to have a lot of flies on them? Any advice?!

Put out some yellow stickies and see if you can catch them.

I thought beets/beetroot were a cold season crop. Since you're not in the Southern Hemisphere, you may want to try again during cooler weather.
