An oldie but goodie thread.
Fish make an outstanding fertilizer and if handled properly no mess or fuss. We raise Tilapia in our ponds to keep the ponds clean and feed the bass. However, cold weather kills them i.e. water temps below 55 deg F. So, before the bass eat them with cold weather approaching, I like to catch some for the garden.
Dig trenches with my middle buster, throw in the fish and cover. Then plant a good thick cover crop on top of it all for the winter.
Almost guaranteed to produce a no N, P, K required seed bed without any synthetic fertilizer and virtually free of expenses beyond your labor. Absolutely tremendous soil building.
