I used to wonder who Ailsa Craig was, I thought maybe a gardener like Graham Thomas who has a honeysuckle and a rose named after him, I looked it up the other day. Ailsa craig is an island in the mouth of the Clyde which is made from a very fine crystalline granite, almost all curling stones come from it.
