Which vegetable do you have difficulty growing and harvest?

My peppers in containers are doing great. Well the ones that hadn't gotten eaten anyway. But even those are growing good now and tgey were eaten on twice.

Isn't that mostly a combination of lack of water and lack of fertility in a small piece of dirt

But you might have to fertilize and water multiple times a day depending

At that point it's hydroponics but i think there's something to better aeration in the roots can help

I don't think so, based on my testing results.

I should add that my use of the word "far" in the response overstates the difference I have seen for Bell peppers in container vs ground. I went back and checked my spreadsheets and found the difference is 90%. That is to say, Bell peppers in containers produce 90% of what they produce in ground in my studies.

To address your question @Martin Mikulcik , I don't believe It is fertility IMO. I grew peppers in container with identical soil as ground grown and compared production....and ground was better but not by a huge aamount.

Could be water because a container drains differently than ground...no way around that but in my tests, I tried to maintain the same soil moisture in each.

My theory is nether, however.

I've compared growth in containers vs ground under as identical conditions as I could make it...and some plants actually do better in containers than ground for me...but not peppers.

Brassicas, for example, and lettuce each do as well or better in containers vs ground, in fact, I won't even bother growing lettuce and any other loose leaf cool season veggie in ground now, only in containers.

Here in my environment each variety of plant is different in the container vs ground comparison. My conclusion is it's the plant's characteristics that makes the difference and testing is the only way I know to establish what that production ratio of container/ground is for a given variety.

Brussels Sprouts - grow them every year. Will have 12 plants this fall. will do everything the exact same for all 12 plants. same ground, fertilizer, water, sun etc. about 1/2 will grow fine. 1/2 wont tighten.

They are a tough one @skinyea indeed...require such a long growing season at cool temps... here about 110 days. I have planted my seeds already inside and will probably go for transplants in early Sept. and harvest Jan. if lucky.

planting out next weekend. started 5 weeks ago. hardening them off now
