So lovely to be home these past weeks. But soon our travel plans will begin.
First, June 9 we head down to our Airbnb, to do stuff. and hope to fish often. just a week there.
Mid July we head over to N.C. 5 hours west of the coastline where our nephew and buddies will be participating in a Jet Ski race. should be interesting.
End of July head back to Louisville, Ky for a car show.
End of Aug, still in the planning, a long trip up the coast to Maine, then Nova Scotia and Prince Ed. Island. Stopping in some interesting areas on the way up and also on way down, being gone for about 20 days. Hope to get my fill of lobster .

Funny I was just looking. Best time to be in Louisiana is middle of October.

Fishing is good and Shrimp are in season.

Thing is we have to take our Granddaughter who actually has little interest in traveling other than she gets out of school.

I would like to go back down there but don't see it happening.

Not sure the age of your granddaughter. Perhaps she can fill out a travel diary, or find what her passions are to find them in areas of traveling. She's got to like something. Get the teacher to give her an assignment she can do on the road by collecting items from places. The reward from the teacher is an extra grade or points when she returns.

Soon away again, Sunday leaving for our airbnb, New Bern, NC. for a few days taking stuff down there, that is an 8 hour drive. Then we drive west for 5 hours to Forest City, NC to meet up with nephew and the gang for a Jet Ski competition. Should be interesting, Then home. End of July we have a car show trip to Kentucky which will take us into first week of August. Then end of August a very long trip, to Mass, then Maine, then Nova Scotia, then Prince Ed. Island, then back through Maine, then home, that will be a total of 3 weeks away.

She has no plans with her life. She had two Horses here that she didn't take care of or ride.

Told my Son the Horses had to go. So he sold them.

He bought the Horses and another guy was taking care of them.

He gave the money off the Horses to my Granddaughter. Well the guy that was taking care of them was upset.

I'm like let them work it out.

Focusing on the 15 year old. Feel bad for her. Thinking of me at 15, I don't think I had any real "plans". Knew I had to finish HS. My HS counselor was a waste of air. My parents were not future planning oriented folks. What did the GD do with the $$$, maybe you can suggest she puts it in a savings, and show her how it will grow over the years.

So I got a full time job at 18, at a Psych Hosp. There I interacted with Registered nurses, I said to myself, I am smarter than them. The hospital had a college benefit program, so applied for the program, took some classes, and What do you know, kept making A's. And got on the Dean's list. And my HS counselor ---game me no direction or helped me out in any way. What I am saying is perhaps your GD one day, hopefully will be in a situation where some person, some mentor will light her spark and she will see inside herself she can do something special and be proud of it. As I said before I hated HS, but loved College.
Unfortunately some young folks who are narrowly exposed to their family think that their family is the example of normal. When you get out more, develop relationships with folks, and be open minded, and a critical thinker you do find there are other ways of doing things. Take care.

Travel has been a passion with me. I have covered quite a few places. If not for my accident way back in 2006 I would have fulfilled my dream of spending a few days in Alaska. I have no confidence to do it now and so I satisfy myself by looking at pictures that have been posted on the Net by other tourists.

Alaska is a place where the sea and mountains live in tandem. And that is what I wanted to see and experience.

How has been your travel experience. Have you been to Alaska? Please post pictures, if you have.

I have never been to Alaska, but I used to camp a lot all over the West Coast. I have health problems now that keep me from traveling far, so I also have to live vicariously through others pictures. Its pretty nice scenery here though so I don't feel lile I'm missing out too much.
