What to do about aphids

Does anyone do any preventative maintenance for aphids?

For my apples I rub them off with neem oil and my fingers. My pears and plums I top them off for summer pruning height control.

Any suggestions?

Outside plants i don't do anything, the birds will come along and the friendly insects. I don't have any inside plants.
