What is wrong with my cherry tree?

The ends of the branches all look like this ...

Can anyone diagnose what might be wrong with it?

I did spray some TRICO on it it to stop the moose from eating it, could it be that? It's only sheep-fat that the animals don't like, not some toxic chemical, and I've sprayed it on many other more delicate plants with no problem.

You have a very bad infestation of aphids. Strong blasts of water do a good job of knocking them off. With those very curly leaves you will have to work hard to clear them out.
