The speckles on the leaves are suggestive of Hoya pubicalyx, but other species have them as well, including some forms of Hoya carnosa. When your plant blooms, please post photos. That will supply many additional characters for identification, as well as being a beautiful sight to see.
Sounds like a beautiful flower. look forward to seeing it someday.
This thread inspired me to look into the phylogenetics of Hoya. One study showed the two species as closely related sister taxa. Hoya pubicalyx may essentially be the Philippine form of Hoya carnosa, which is not otherwise known to be native to that archipelago.
The flowers of H. carnosa and H. pubicalyx are also quite similar. The flowers of H. pubicalyx are usually darker and more pubescent, but those features do seem to overlap with some forms of H. carnosa.
