We spotted our 1st flyer! For us this is the Swallow, house martin and/or swift. The latter for us is rarely before May, but the others are THIS month. Very special for us is to spot the first of the year, for me it was a Swallow, but hey at that height and that speed it could have easily been a House Martin... Beautiful either way !

Seems like things are changing because I haven't seen any hummingbirds this year. I have had my feeders out and no birds. After 25 years of showing up, you would think they know where to go.

Spotted a single Red Kite whilst out walking. Not unusual for the UK, but quite so around here as we have only ever seen (and heard) one other. We get a lot of common buzzards and I suspect they don't care for Kite's, seen upwards of 15 circling overhead before.

Both the Kites and Buzzards live in harmony here @DiggersJo.

Ok I had to wait till it dried out some for them to get active again. I had to take a picture and then screenshot a couple ants after zooming in.

This is getting to be like work.

Love this time of year when the swallows and martins start showing up again. I remember I spotted a pair of swallows near the garden one morning and it instantly felt like spring had finally arrived. I’ve actually been looking at better binoculars and a camera at Gear Focus because I’ve started paying way more attention to birds than I used to.
