@zigs Your view looks lovely. It seems to go on and on and looks to be a peaceful place. Are those boxes made for germinating seeds? and do you have an upside down pot on the tow hitch? And i see you've done a lot of clearing. Will you plant there?

It do go on and on :D

Peaceful now, but all hell will break loose next month when the show comes

Incidentally....

The Melplash Show

This is a lively one day event held in the fields adjoining the West Bay plot.

Got parking for a few cars by prior arrangement.

Tickets are £16 on the gate or £14 if bought online.

Tickets

Can't provide any food, but can do tea/coffee/soft drinks/water at lunchtime, plenty of food stalls at the show and we could have a GF get together for lunch :)

Free tour of Zigs plot and greenhouse should take up a few minutes of the day too :snorky:

I don't see any ants. o_O Is the tow hitch under the cover? I don't see the tow hitch. :cautious:

 Did the ants build that mound? Around the tow hitch??

You got it, the metal lock heats up in the sun, every summer they build up to it, not covering it but surrounding it.

Guess they got a nursery chamber near it.

That is amazing!
That kind of organization is a little disturbing. :cautious:
Makes me very glad that ants are little.

When it comes to sheer efficiency, I'm not sure if the prize goes to ants or bees!!

Ever seen the film Phase IV ?

They may be little but they outnumber us.

They must have sensed it as a heat source before building up to it.

Think bees and ants had a common ancestor.

@MaryMary @zigs not all ants are little, some of them are really big and they bite, and they are smarter than humans. They are also pure protein, so we all need to start eating lots of ants. Believe me they are not endangered and never will be. They can be sauteed in stir fry, dried and used as a condiment for soups and salads, even chocolate covered. We have not a moment to lose.

o yes and for the big ones we will want to rip their little heads off first before eating.

You're gonna love the way they tickle :D
Yes, that used to bother Isabel too. When she was 5 or 6 years old, her father (a computer scientist) would take Isabel for walks in the evening. In the evenings gangs of sizeable ants walk two or three abreast on the sidewalks in long lines, but don't bother the people much. They are looking for food. Isabel's dad taught her to pick up ants from the sidewalk, remove the heads, and pop them in her mouth for a tasty and nutritious snack. Right away, Isabel took to this game with her dad on their evening walks and she became very good at it. But she didn't like the way the legs of the ants would still wiggle after the head was removed
