I know a lot of vegetable gardening, but I know nothing about flower gardens. I want to make this tilted clay pot structure for my mom for mother's day but I have NO idea what would be good flowers to keep in there. There will be about 5 clay pots about 6 inches big. I want some flowers that will last a while and that will be in bloom and pretty for next weekend. Any suggestions on what would be good ones to plant for her?

Is your mom going to be the one caring for and maintaining the flowers in the future? I suggest you look for perennials that are cold hardy, dwarf or compact in size (they will last in the pots longer), and require little maintenance.

The Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) and Common Marigold (Tagetes) are fast-growers, easy to cultivate, and are quite beautiful.
