Triploid Apples - Malus domestica

Tell me why apples (Malus domestica) like Florina or Golden delicious are more resistant to disease than others like Fuji, which often suffers from Apple Scab. Is it a gene. I will leave an article, quite interesting.

Those are interesting articles It was good to learn more about triploid apples.

When ever the topic comes up about genetic resistance to pests and disease, I always think of Van Valen's Red Queen Hypothesis, which states that there is a constant arms race going on between predators/pathogens and their prey/hosts. Both sides have to keep evolving just to maintain their abilities to attack and infect, or prevent and resist. The name refers to the Red Queen in Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass, who had to keep running as fast as she could, just to stay in place.
