Hi @Samantha Ellis
A very good, perennial, flowering plant that is easy to grow from seed is vinca. I would really suggest you try them. They are drought tolerant too if you are a little in inconsistent in watering. Very forgiving plant that comes in beautiful shades from cranberry red to dark purple to white.
Best of luck with zinnias and pansys.
Those look lovely! I'll have to look into that, as I think some neighbors have either those or something similar growing. Thanks for the suggestion!

Sadly, I too made this mistake. I have 6 started and then found out its probably too hot here for them to do well. You said you started a whole tray and only 6 came up? All of mine germinated (nothing I did, Im new to this...beginners luck?). I may try and pot one or two to keep inside.
My tray has 18 bigger cells in it, I think. I did everything I was supposed to, but who knows? Pretty much all of the ones that germinated were on the left of the tray, so maybe somehow they got more sun? When they were growing I put them in a spot that gets sun all day, though. I wish I could put some inside but I have nowhere that gets any sunlight and my window sills are very narrow, as I mentioned before. Lucky that you can, though!

Who knows. I'm having success with indoor and using a light a few inches above my seedlings. On nice days I'll set them outside where they get some good sunshine.
