Well WHO is a right show off then :sorry: My sunflowers are looking all twisted and wilted and droopy, and I`m thinking it may have to be the compost heap for them .... I`m in a mood now

Don’t feel too bad. I’m in a bit of an unfair situation since I have the Phoenix heat to help me out. It’s a bit of a double edged sword though. Makes sunflowers look fit but almost all other flowering vegetation gets scorched in the summer heat (last year our high was close to 49 degrees and the average summer temp is 40+ degrees).

I disowned them - that`s Zigs attempt at a rescue job actually. I think he might have ''spoken'' to them :giggle:

The big guy opened up today! The only frustrating thing about my crop is that the biggest ones face my neighbors to the east and they don’t seem to like to look at me...I guess I’ve been telling too many dad jokes and am getting too embarrassing.

Pointing to one, just germinated a few days ago, and the other about march/April. These are a Sunflower I grabbed the seeds from, no clue what type, first time growing, them, we'll see if they tip the barrel over

Planted out half of them by the pond.

Had to put protection round them as we've got a plague of rabbits and partridges

I live in an old house with5 apartments. The girl who lives upstairs from us gave me some Sunflower seeds, I put them in mini greenhouse and about 8 plants came up, I now see she has them planted in the little garden area attached to front of the house. I will post a picture up here in August or September when they have matured.

These are my 2 official favorite flowers. There’s something about the red hues that I’ve always loved in sunflowers.
