Hi Everyone,

What is this hardened foam like substance that grew around the plant within 24 hours. I was adjusting the plant on Sunday to fit into the cage then Monday evening I found this.

Haha, Yea I was gonna say looks like “dog vomit mold/fungi”. Interesting it crumbles like that though… regardless it’s most likely a fungus which is a good sign! It means your soil is alive and thriving :D. Mayyyy be a little overwatered though (I’ve been told this when massive mushrooms popped up in my raised bed), but someone more experienced can probably say more about it.

A mulch helps. Something mildly acidic like pinestraw is very offensive to fungi, at least until its old and starts breaking down into compost.
