Hello, I noticed this problem (rust on pear tree leaves) approx. 8 years ago. I tried to cure the pear tree but so far there is no significant improvements. It looks OK in the spring time when leaves first start up, but then, as time goes by, an ugly rust spots appear on them. Please look at photos below. Is there any cure? Thank you.

Yes, there is a cure. At bud break start spraying copper fungicide about every 10 days THROUGHOUT the growing season. That is a lot of spraying. Keep all debris removed. Some folks here alternate copper fungicide with Neem Oil.

There must be some Juniper bushes nearby. This fungus has a two stage life cycle. It starts on Junipers and then migrates to Pear trees. Remove the Junipers!

Since you live where lots of people grow Red Cedar, removing them is not a real option. Copper is the only organic option. Ferbam, Ziram and Manzate are your chemical options. As Chuck and Owdboggy said it will be an eternal battle. It doesn't seem to be a very serious problem for you, so you could treat every other year so it doesn't weaken the tree.
