Anyone have any tips on growing sesame seeds from store bought ones?
I've tried the paper towel method and direct into seedling soil mix, neither worked :/ my guess is the store bought ones were treated to prevent sprouting?

i just wanna grow my own but its difficult to find seeds specifically for planting, I might buy some Organic ones to try again, or maybe im just trying at the wrong time of year, its late summer here

Maybe they are slightly cooked before packaging.

I know they have to do that to nyjer seed (for finches) so it doesn't sprout here in the U.S.

All the store bought seeds have been preserved in some way I think. I looked up 'natural sesame seeds for cultivation'. They seem to be called 'Gingili' and are from India and expensive. Go to an Indian Supermart and look there...maybe? They originate in India so are subtropical.
